About

Hello there!

I'm a librarian, letter writer, Kentucky Wildcats fan, DIY crafter, eternal Pollyanna, and seeker of all things lovely. I love cats, pulled pork BBQ, traveling, early-mid 20th century American literature, and papergoods. In my free time I hang out with family and friends, watch things like The Andy Griffith Show, visit antique malls, take blurry iPhone photos, and eat lots of ice cream and chocolate. If I had one selfish wish, it would be to tap my heels three times and instantly be transported to see my family and friends who've scattered across the globe whenever I like.

Oh Happy Roar is a blog dedicated to beauty, joy, inspiration from/for daily life, the curation of curiosity, and a bit of whatever else suits my fancy at the time. You can also expect some accounts of my travels and also some vague recipes every once in a while. I really hope my blog encourages people and helps them see their lives with brighter perspectives.

Sincerely,
Emily

P.P.S.
The name, "Oh Happy Roar," comes from a couple Bible verses that compare the voice of God to a roar - something that commands attention and cannot be ignored. His "roar" could be perceived as frightening to those who do not follow Him, but also comforting to those who believe in Him and have put their faith in Him. His voice is a reminder that He is near and He still speaks.

A secondary aspect of the name is another reference to a "roar," in the book of Revelation. Here the roar refers to the voices of a multitude of people who are crying, "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!"

I chose "Oh Happy Roar" for my blog because I want to be constantly reminded to listen to the voice of God (his "roar"), and at the same time I want all my efforts to glorify Him (my "roar").
