Rachel's Baby Shower

This past weekend I went to Columbus, Ohio to help celebrate the upcoming birth of baby Johanna! She'll be firstborn daughter of my friends, Rachel and Tim. I was so excited to be a part of the event since I feel like I often miss out on out-of-town friends' life events.

The theme was "Ready to Pop" so all the decorations and food were things related to "popping" - popcorn, balloon, soda "pop," etc. Very cute!

One thing I really appreciate about Rachel and her family is that they are super creative and love crafts! In that vein, they had several crafty activities for the guests to participate in like decorating diapers and writing notes of encouragement to Johanna.

In addition to the shower this past weekend, I also enjoyed spending rare and treasured time with my best friends from college! Rachel, Shelby, and I were close during our years together in college, and we have really made an effort to keep that up. We went out to eat, went shopping, and did a LOT of catching up :-)

Can't be in Columbus for more than a day and not go to Jeni's. Although I would obviously really enjoy it, I'm sort of glad I don't live in a city with a Jeni's. That way it's a special treat to look forward to when I travel!

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. Thankful for my friends and my ability to see them several times a year! Looking forward to meeting Miss Johanna soon :-)
