About

Hello there!

I'm a librarian and edtech enthusiast, letter writer, eternal Pollyanna, and seeker of all things lovely. I love bees, the USPS, pulled pork BBQ, early-mid 20th century American literature, and papergoods. In my free time I watch The Andy Griffith Show, take blurry iPhone photos, turn everything into a craft project, and drink decaf coffee. Summer is my enemy. Google is my friend.

Oh Happy Roar is a blog dedicated to beauty, joy, inspiration from/for daily life, the curation of curiosity, and a bit of whatever else suits my fancy at the time. You can also expect some accounts of my travels, poetry, art, and also some vague recipes every once in a while.

Sincerely,
Emily

The name "Oh Happy Roar" comes from my understanding of listening for God's voice in the world and people, inspired by Job 37 from the Bible:

At this also my heart trembles
    and leaps out of its place.
Keep listening to the thunder of his voice
    and the rumbling that comes from his mouth.
Under the whole heaven he lets it go,
    and his lightning to the corners of the earth.
After it his voice roars;
    he thunders with his majestic voice,
    and he does not restrain the lightnings when his voice is heard.
God thunders wondrously with his voice;
    he does great things that we cannot comprehend.
