Destination: Roadtrip - Huber's Orchard and Winery

One perk of living in Louisville is that it's easy to travel to several different states within a matter of minutes to a couple of hours. There are actually a lot of options in Southern Indiana for the Louisvillian who wants to get out of the city for a little while (perhaps on a mini-roadtrip?). On Labor Day, a friend suggested that we go to Huber's to pick some apples. This turned out to be a great way to spend our days off from work!

While I didn't grow up in a family that went to Huber's every year as the kick off to the Autumn season as is the tradition for many, we did often pick fruits and veggies at different farms in the area as well as take yearly mission trips to a farm in Eastern KY. For this reason, I always feel a little nostalgic for my elementary years whenever I go to a farm.

My favorite part of the day (besides the company!) was that Huber's has apple cider slushies. Just thinking about it right now makes me want to go up this weekend to buy another one. In addition to apple picking, Huber's has a schedule of when other types of fruits are picked throughout the year. They also have pre-picked produce, a bakery, an ice cream shop, a winery, and a restaurant!
